CHICAGO — Taste of Chicago To-Go kicked off Wednesday and will run through Sunday with locations across the city.
This is the second year the festival has gone mobile amid the pandemic.
Wednesday’s kickoff event, “Pop-Up Taste,” featured 10 local eateries and food trucks and music from Chicago SummerDance at Pullman City Market.
Thursday’s festivities will take place at Austin Town Hall City Market with food trucks and vendors such as Forty Acres Fresh Market. Thursday also will feature a series of house music performances from a lineup of local DJs as well as a free DIY terrarium workshop.
Friday’s festivities will take place in Humboldt Park at ¡WEPA! Mercado del Pueblo, featuring a talk from acclaimed author Marisel Vera and a Puerto Rican cooking workshop. Friday night will feature an event at Goose Island Brewery’s Tap Room with their one-night only “Taste of Chicago” pint, food trucks and music. Half of the proceeds from the Goose Island event will go to My Block, My Hood, My City, a youth empowerment organization.
Saturday’s pop-up, “A Taste of the West Side” will take place at The Hatchery with an art installation, cheesecake from Eli’s Cheesecake and ribs from Robinson’s No. 1 Ribs. There also will be an art installation and a farm stand from the Chicago High School of Agricultural Sciences.
Also Saturday, a pop-up in West Englewood at 6300 S. Wood St. will have local vendors, musicians, a beer garden and activities for kids.
The Taste will wrap up Sunday with the “Let’s Talk Women Picnic in White” at Millennium Park. Picnic boxes from women-owned restaurants for Sunday’s wrap-up event will cost $45 and can be ordered in advance. Beverages and signature cocktails must be pre-ordered. Guests are encouraged to wear white in solidarity with women.
