Nova Scotia’s Jill Brothers rink will play Alberta’s Laura Walker in the opening round of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Friday, Feb. 19 in Calgary.

Brothers and her team of third Eric Carmody, second Jenn Brine, lead Emma Logan and fifth Kim Kelly are in the nine-team A Pool. Joining Brothers and Walker are Kerri Einarson (Team Canada),  Rachel Homan (Ontario),  Mackenzie Zacharias (Wild card No. 2), Beth Peterson (Wild Card No.3), Kerry Galusha (Northwest Territories), Krysta Burns (Northern Ontario) and Laura Eby (Yukon).

Truro’s Karlee Burgess is a member of the Zacharias rink, who will face the defending Scotties champion Einarson foursome from Manitoba in the opening draw at 9:30 p.m. (AT).

Brothers takes on Eby on Saturday, Feb. 20 (4:30 p.m.), Galusha (11 a.m.) and Peterson (9:30 p.m.) on Sunday, Feb. 21.  They meet Homan on Monday, Feb. 22 (9:30 p.m.), Einarson (4:30 p.m.) on Tuesday, Feb. 23 and Zacharias (11:30 a.m.) and Burns  (9:30 p.m.) on Wednesday, Feb. 24,

Pool B features Tracy Fleury (Wild Card No. 1), Jennifer Jones (Manitoba), Corryn Brown (British Columbia), Suzanne Birt (Prince Edward Island), Sherry Anderson (Saskatchewan), Laurie St-Georges (Quebec), Melissa Adams (New Brunswick), Lori Eddy (Nunavut) and Sarah Hill (Newfoundland/Labrador).

Fleury is not participating in the Scotties and is being replaced at skip by Chelsea Carey.

The field was expanded to 18 teams for this year only to accommodate   teams that didn’t get an opportunity to compete for their provincial or territorial championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
