Mamelodi Sundowns v Kaizer Chiefs 25

DStv Premiership

Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v Kaizer Chiefs

Date: 25 April 2021

Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs will look to re-ignite their bid for a top-eight finish in the DStv Premiership when they take on table-toppers Mamelodi Sundowns in Sunday’s blockbuster clash at Loftus Versfeld.

The match gets underway at 15h00.

With only one league victory to their name in the last three months (a 1-0 win over arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in March) and five wins from 22 league matches in all, things are looking increasingly bleak for Gavin Hunt’s men, who are now languishing down in 11th place on the table.

Chiefs have struggled without a regular scorer in recent months, with Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castron failing to fire in front of goal, and fellow attackers Khama Billiat, Lazarous Kambole, Bernard Parker, Dumisani Zuma and Lebogang Manyama all struggling to find the back of the net as well.

Meanwhile, there are no such problems over at Sundowns, who are still unbeaten in the league this season.

While Masandawana are coming off a stalemate against fellow high-flyers AmaZulu in midweek, they still enjoy a comfortable six-point lead at the top of the table with two matches in hand over their nearest rivals.

The last four meetings between the two sides have all had a result, with Sundowns claiming three wins and Chiefs only one.

Here’s how they line up:

Sundowns: 14. D.Onyango, 27. Morena, 6. B.Onyango, 5. Lebusa, 7. Lakay, 15. Jali, 40. Coetzee, 33. Maboe, 18. Zwane, 10. Sirino, 19. Motupa.

Subs: 30. Pieterse, 3. Nascimento, 36. Mkhuma, 24. Vilakazi, 37. Modiba, 25. Mudau, 22. Kapinga, 11. Erasmus, 41. Mvala.
