Green has faced an abundance of criticism lately for his low offensive numbers, and apparently he took that to heart. Playing as a “point-center,” Green did what he does best Thursday: he played aggressive defense and delegated the offense. The result was a 15-assist night (one short of his career best) where he became the third starting center in league history to accomplish the feat.
He also did this.
Green’s transition dunk in the first quarter over Mavericks star Luka Dončić surely made quite the statement. Even LeBron James had something to say.
James shouted out Green, posting a video of the three-time NBA All-Star’s throw-down on his Instagram page.
Green reposted James’ shoutout to his own story, joking that he was “getting his legs back.”
He also shouted out the 16-time NBA All-Star on Twitter after James dropped a triple-double (20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 114-93 victory over the Denver Nuggets.
Green also couldn’t help but toot his own horn after threading a majestic assist to Steph Curry in the third quarter.
It’s safe to say the banter between the James and Green likely won’t be as friendly when the Warriors visit Staples Center at the end of the month, but Thursday’s social media escapades were all in good fun.
