The new models will make their way to the Indian market through CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route.
The 2021 Honda CBR650R is available in Grand Prix Red and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic while the neo sports cafe can be had in either Candy Chromosphere Red or Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic.
The motorcycles are powered by 649cc, DOHC 16-valve engine shelling out max net power of 64 kW at 12,000 rpm with max net torque of 57.5 Nm delivered at 8,500 rpm.
Both the models come with the assist/slipper clutch. The assist mechanism reduces the clutch lever operating load, and the slipper mechanism reduces rear-wheel hopping due to sudden engine braking caused by downshifting.
In terms of design, the frame is a twin-tube type. Around the swing arm pivot and engine hanger structure, weight reduction and mass centralization are realized.
The CB650R’s Neo-Sports Café style features the signature compact ‘Trapezoid’ proportion of short, stubby tail and short overhang headlight. The long fuel tank is a key motif of the family design. The round headlight is one of the keywords of the Neo-Sports Café design language.
With its four-cylinder power unit, the CBR650R’s has a sporty appeal with a dual-LED headlight cluster with a new reflector profile for 2021. The seat unit is compact and truncates the rear of the machine.
Additionally, it comes with new smart ESS (Emergency Stop Signal) technology which detects sudden braking and automatically activates the front and rear hazard lights, which flash to warn any nearby vehicles. The new Honda Ignition Security System (HISS), an electronic anti-theft device automatically disables the starting of the engine by means of electronic control.
Another key addition is the Showa Separate Function-Big Piston (SSF-BP) USD Forks with a damping mechanism and spring on the right and left fork to offer reduced weight, better rigidity and improved excellent performance along with preload spring adjustability. They ride on aluminum wheels with premium give-spoke Y-shaped spokes.
