Grant offers $1 million to Arizona-based startups with emerging tech

PHOENIX — A new grant, created through a partnership between the Governor’s office, invisionAZ and StartupAZ, aims to support local tech entrepreneurs with emerging technologies.

The EmergeAZ Fast Grant is allocating a total of $1 million to Arizona-based startups with products that address issues brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, such as economic, health and social concerns.

“As Arizona manages the COVID-19 pandemic, it is critical that we continue to build out our tech ecosystem to position the state for economic recovery and continued prosperity,” Jack Selby, chairman of invisionAZ, said in a press release.

“We have incredible local talent that are creating the jobs of tomorrow and this grant opportunity will allow us to support and grow these companies here in Arizona.”

The fund promises to aid innovative startups that are working to grow Arizona’s economy and expand the tech community.

Grants are anticipated to be between $25,000 – $50,000 for the selected businesses.

To be eligible to apply, startups must be based in Arizona, generating revenue, in existence for at least 12 months and have five or more employees.

Applicants will be notified within 30 days if they have been accepted or not, according to the group’s website.
