Everton won their opening seven fixtures in all competitions this season but have triumphed in just one of the subsequent seven with two draws and four defeats.

They could equal the club Premier League record of three successive home defeats, last set in March 2016. It would also match Carlo Ancelotti’s longest losing streak at home as a manager, with AC Milan in 2006.

Chelsea are unbeaten in nine Premier League games, the division’s joint-longest current run, and in 17 matches in all competitions since a 2-0 home defeat against Liverpool on 20 September.

In that run they’ve won 10 and drawn seven matches.

They are undefeated in all nine away fixtures, in all competitions, this season winning six and drawing three.

Reaction from Manchester United’s Luke Shaw who told Sky Sports:

I would say it was very tight, a very even game and we made it difficult for them at times. They could not get their rhythm going and we defended well. Either team could have taken it at the end, two very good teams and we move on with a point.

“We lacked the final ball in the first half, Bruno Fernandes is magnificently well at doing that but we lacked that and we could have won the game.

“We have started slowly the last three or four games, we said we needed to start brightly and if we did not we could be 3-0, 4-0 down by 30 minutes.

“A point is better than none, we maybe could have taken it towards the end. Tonight we showed a bit more about us but we know we need to improve to fight at the top.”

Reaction from Manchester City’s John Stones who says it was a frustrating day for the visitors. He said:

Obviously there were no fans and it was a different atmosphere. We both didn’t create many chances. It’s another clean sheet for us but we’re a bit frustrated we’ve not come away with more.

“In a derby everything comes out. It’s rarely a thriller. We can take a lot away from the fact we didn’t concede. It’s a platform to win a game when you keep clean sheets. To do that today away from home, it’s very pleasing.

“It’s frustrating not having anyone in the stands but it is what it is. The sooner they get fans back in the stadium the better.”

Lots on the line at Goodison Park tonight. There are 2,000 fans allowed back in the stadium for the Toffees and they could see their team move up to fifth with a comprehensive win over Chelsea.

For the Blues, if they take the three points they’ll move to the top of the table.
