ColdQuanta Inc. has joined the International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) Quantum Network consortium of corporate and academic researchers.
In a statement, Boulder said it would integrate its existing products within Qiskit, an IBM-backed open source development platform that enables developers to build control systems for quantum computing hardware.
The Quantum Network contains more than 140 entities that span large enterprises, start-ups, and academic researchers to apply quantum computing to practical problems.
The partnership also allows developers to create a build-to-suit program for Hilbert, the official name for ColdQuanta’s first commercial product. The Hilbert is a 100 qubit quantum computer scheduled for launch in late 2021.
A qubit or qubit is the basic unit of a quantum computer and is equivalent to a bit in a conventional computer. Bits are a binary representation of data, such as 1 or 0, or on or off, but qubits can represent any percentage of any end of the binary scale and are considered nearly impossible by traditional computing standards. ColdQuanta’s “cold atom” method seeks to achieve stable cubit activity by freezing atoms to near absolute zero and producing minimal vibrations.
The company has recently raised $ 20 million in bridge loans and continues to build Series B rounds, which are likely to exceed $ 100 million.
