Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has lavished praise on Gabriel and revealed the Arsenal summer signing is ‘really difficult’ to go up against in training.

The centre-back has hit the ground running at the Emirates since making the £27million move from Lille earlier this year.

Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s shining lights in an otherwise dismal campaign for the north Londoners.

Mikel Arteta’s side are languishing in 15th place in the table after picking up a mere 13 points from their opening 11 Premier League games.

But Gabriel’s consistently solid displays in defence have seen him earn the Gunners’ Player of the Month award for September, October and November.

And speaking in Arsenal’s matchday programme for their Premier League clash against Burnley on Sunday, Aubameyang commended the Brazilian centre-back’s excellent start to his career at the club.

‘I saw that Gabriel won our Player of the Month award again, and I wanted to say how much I think he deserves it,’ Aubameyang said.

‘He is really difficult to play against in training – he’s so aggressive and physical.

‘It’s great to train with guys like that though, because it makes you even more determined.

‘You just want to show him that you can pass him because he’s in such good form at the moment.

‘It’s great for us to have him, we’re all happy to have him here and I must say his English is improving too.’
